Museum Foundation

Founded in 2005, the Chicago Metropolitan Museum and Library of African History Foundation seeks private sector support for Museum Africa, a museum-library complex created for the preservation of knowledge about ancient African civilizations. With tax caps, diminishing state and federal funds, and the increasing costs of materials and supplies, cutbacks are inevitable if new sources of funding are not developed.

The Foundation endeavors to ensure the preservation of works of African scholars, as well as important African artifacts and documents. Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Goals of our Foundation include:

  • Acquiring the library's collection of African primary source documents and ancient artifacts

  • Helping our library become "state of the art" so that its services can be enjoyed by all

  • Providing additional library and museum services as needed by the community

  • Towards these goals, we solicit donations for immediate needs, as well as endowments that will assure the future health of our library-museum system.

This website will acquaint you with our current projects, the different ways that you can help, and the tax benefits that your generosity can produce. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
